London On, Friday January 19, 2019
Elgin Middlesex Soccer Association (EMSA) is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with the Vancouver Whitecaps of Major League Soccer to operate the Technical Program of the District Platform.

The agreement will see the Vancouver Whitecaps operate and administer the Regional (WRSL) teams that EMSA had previously administered.

As part of the agreement the Vancouver Whitecaps will provide development for players and coaches in the U12 – U18 age groups to bridge the gap between the District and Provincial (OPDL) programs at no cost to the District.

The agreement is for an initial 5 year term with the opportunity for an annual renewal by each party.

This agreement will serve to ensure that the requirements within the Ontario Soccer Long Term Development Program (LTDP) are communicated and well laid out for players, coaches and clubs within the District.

More specific details will become available early in the 2019 year.

This agreement is effective immediately. EMSA is looking forward to realizing the benefits of this agreement for our youth players, coaches and clubs as we strive to assist youth players throughout the District achieve their full potential in soccer.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM WHITECAPS LONDON

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM WHITECAPS LONDON
As the Festive season is quickly approaching I would like to take a moment to share a few words.

As club president I am honoured to be in this position. When I was younger I was coached and led by so many great and committed coaches and administrators. This is my time to give back. Times are different. We have licenced coaches. The kids programs are more specific, focused on skill development and less on winning and in my opinion this is a welcomed paradigm shift. I am true believer of Long Term Player Development and also support Long Term Match Official Development.

Our coaching team brings professionalism and passion to the field every day. My hope is that these values are instilled and transferred to each and every Athlete in our program to make them great players and great people on and off the field.

On behalf of the Board, Coaches, Trainers, Managers and Volunteers I wish you a Safe, Prosperous, Healthy and Exciting Holiday Season.

Our All Our Honour

Sincerely,
Abbi Lezizidis
President – Whitecaps London Soccer Club

Whitecaps London are so proud of Brandon Tam and wish him all the best.

Another successful Whitecaps FC High Potential Player (HPP) Combine wrapped up at Fortius Sport & Health and the National Soccer Development Centre (NSDC), as the ‘Caps welcomed top prospects from the club’s cross-country regional and provincial academy centre network.

“Our player combine has become an integral part of the development and recruiting process in our nationwide academy centre network,” said Marinos Papageorgopoulos, Whitecaps FC Academy Centre director and head coach. “Players came in focused to take their opportunities. Many of them improved and progressed throughout the week. We were very pleased with the level we saw as we continue to push our standards from strength to strength.”
71 girls and 53 boys were welcomed from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ottawa, London (Ontario), Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador, and Prince Edward Island.

Whitecaps FC coaching staff put the players through the on and off field demands of the full-time professional development structure at Whitecaps FC, both for their personal development and to evaluate them for further opportunities within the club’s pathway.
At the conclusion of each combine week, top performing players were selected for a game of distinction. In February, Whitecaps FC will hold a second round of combines to continue the development and evaluation process.

Among the 53 boys players, four from the 2003-04 age group were selected for an upcoming Whitecaps FC Academy trip, sponsored by Generation Adidas, to train at the facility of Real Madrid and compete against their academy in December. The four players selected are:
A.J. Calado (Manitoba/Bonivital SC)
Riad Jaha (Prince Edward Island/PEIFC)
Kyle Steenstra (Alberta/Calgary Rangers FC)
Brandon Tam (London/Whitecaps London)
