London Whitecaps started London’s first Blind Soccer program in 2023.

The program runs from mid January and will wrap up at the end of March 2024

The Blind Soccer Educations Sessions will consist of….

•             6 week winter training program with a once-a-week commitment

•             Individual training for our elite Blind Soccer athletes

•             Highlighting Blind Soccer to our community by working with the TVDSB and the LDCSB

•             Possible Training and Participant opportunities at CNIB in Lake Joe, Muskoka

•             Hosting a tournament in the summer of 2024 where we invite other Blind Soccer clubs in Ontario to take part.

Andrew: People often ask me why I joined the Blind Soccer community? In a word - curiosity. I knew nothing of the sport, the rules, or the organizational structure in Ontario. All I knew is that it was out of my comfort zone, and I needed to take a leap into a new world. Now that I know the sport, I am amazed by both the athletes we have and the opportunities there are to grow the sport (both in London and globally). If you have any questions, I would be happy to talk about the program in more detail.

Abbi: As a Registered National Youth License Club with Canada Soccer, it was our responsibility to look at providing Soccer for all. There are many areas that lack opportunities for individuals who are non sighted and/or low sight or vision impairment that want to be active and try something new or continue to play soccer because they love the beautiful game. Whitecaps London chose Blind Soccer because there is a clear, opportunity and lack of services for the blind in this area. There is also a larger push to make this an Olympic sport in the coming years, and we want YOU to have an opportunity to be a part of that.
